Rachel qualified in 1999 from Nottingham University with a "first class" (hons) degree , and after winning "student of the year" award. She worked for five years at the NHS Cedars Rehabilitation Unit, treating orthopaedic, work and sports related injuries. Rachel also did evening and weekend work with Nottingham Rugby Club and BUSA (British Universities Sports Association). In 2004 she left Cedars to work at Loughborough University within Sports Medicine Services.

Rachel worked at Loughborough for 10 years, giving a wealth of experience in treating many types injuries from different sports. There was a strong team ethos of producing optimal outcomes in minimal timescales.
Rachel has also worked as a guest lecturer at Nottingham University, with GB Rowing and the GB Wheelchair Tennis team. She has also worked with National level athletes in a variety of other sports such as Football, Golf, Athletics, Motorsport and Tennis, and travelled internationally with many teams, including the 2013 Sydney Youth Olympics.

In 2012, Rachel was one of the Physiotherapists selected to volunteer at the London Olympics, where she spent two weeks treating International athletes ( and the odd Volunteer/VIP!)

Rachel's approach to treatment is to work with the patient to get to the root of the problem, rather than treating the symptoms. Treatment techniques include manual therapy, joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, specific exercise prescription and acupuncture. You will receive a full explanation of the diagnosis, treatment and expected recovery times. You will come away with a full understanding of what is going in with your body, and what can be done about it, and are encouraged to ask questions.

Rachel has patients from 8-80+ years of age on her caseload, and enjoys treating people of all abilities and backgrounds She has experience with athletes and non athletes of all abilities, ages, cultures, and a wide variety of physical abilities, and will provide you with the same thorough assessment, explanation and treatment , aiming to optimise your recovery, whatever your level of activity or current understanding.

PELVIC FLOOR / WOMENS HEALTH/ INCONTINENCE PHYSIOTHERAPY

Rachel trained to assess and treat pelvic floor problems after realising how many women she treated had problems in this area, and how little this group of hidden muscles had been covered in her undergraduate degree. A strong and healthy pelvic floor is integral to a healthy body and many people suffer with problems such as incontinence and sexual dysfunction because of problems with the muscles in the pelvic region. Many of us were given little education on our bodies at school, understanding your body and regaining awareness and control can be an empowering and life changing achievement.

Like an MOT for your muscles and joints. An individualized assessment of muscle lengths, strengths and stability. Also screens for any signs of injury dependent on past medical history.

Provides you with a personal written report outlining any areas of muscle imbalance or tightness, core stability, posture etc, and strategies to correct. This can be linked in with your training; or if new to exercise give you a good starting set of goals. As with elite athletes, this can be used as an annual health check to minimize any imbalances occurring, reducing the risk of injury.
